Welcome to the Neighborhood Improvement Association News & Updates!
We’re excited to launch this space to keep you informed about what’s happening in the neighborhood — from upcoming meetings and community projects to opportunities to get involved.
Our Next Meeting: June 12, 2025
Join us at Aurora First United Methodist Church, 3240 Tucson St, Aurora, CO 80011.
We meet every other month on the second Wednesday. All neighbors are welcome! Light refreshments will be provided — and this time, we’ll be grilling free hot dogs for our neighbors to help build interest in our work and encourage new memberships and volunteers. Come by, grab a bite, and get to know your community!
April Meeting Recap
We held our first official meeting on April 9, 2025, where we reviewed and adopted our association bylaws and elected our first leadership team:
- Anthony Jones, President
- Sean Anderson, Vice President
- McKenna Newsum-Schoenberg, Secretary
- Jamie Peterson, Treasurer
Thank you to everyone who participated in shaping the foundation of this new chapter for our neighborhood!
What’s New
Our association president, Anthony Jones, has submitted a proposal for the 2025 Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program. This program, offered by the City of Aurora, is designed to improve the appearance of neighborhoods while strengthening community bonds and organizational networks.
Each year, the city allocates $60,000 to support neighborhood-led projects, with up to $5,000 awarded per proposal. These competitive grants prioritize efforts that:
- Improve physical spaces
- Strengthen neighborhood pride and identity
- Encourage communication
- Create new assets that foster gathering and connection
We’re hopeful this proposal will help fund an initiative that benefits our entire neighborhood. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more!
